Who will win the St.Andrews gunfight at high noon?

Tomorrow Wolves make the short 15-mile trip to St.Andrews for another ‘re-arranged for TV’ game.

After the midweek draw at the City Ground, Wolves will be looking to get back to winning ways in yet another ‘tricky’ fixture.

Birmingham themselves will want to get back to winning ways after being beaten by Man City at home during the week. The home side needs a win to keep on the tails of Burnley and Coventry who currently hold the final two play-off positions. With games running out fast, three points are vital at this stage of the season.

Birmingham have added Michael Hughes and Damien Johnson this week to their already bulging squad. Perhaps Steve Bruce is trying to recreate the Barry Fry era at St.Andrews or they are going to start a second team. Although Hughes won’t figure in the squad, Johnson could come in for his debut.
Birmingham certainly have plenty of potential firepower upfront with Stern John, Geoff Horsfield and Tommy Mooney starting the game against Man City in the week.

Wolves I expect to start with Rae back in his pivotal role in midfield. Who he replaces is not as easy to guess, either Cameron or Andrews, only Dave Jones knows the answer. Perhaps it might be Andrews who is rested as he was on the receiving end of a studs-first tackle at Forest on Wednesday, which required extensive treatment at the time.

Wolves got the three points earlier in the season at the
Molineux with Rae getting the winner in a closely fought contest. I think the same sort of match is on the cards tomorrow.

Wolves will need to be prepared for a battle and take any chances that come our way.

I’m not going to make this one as I’ve been spending far too much money of late going up and down the M6.

St.Andrews isn’t one of my favorite grounds to visit and the Blues fans certainly don’t roll out the welcome mat for visiting fans, especially when they are close
neighbours.

If we don’t take anything from the game then we have two successive home fixtures on the horizon to make amends.

For anyone going to the game – enjoy it and have a safe trip home.
