Ok, we know we are Premiership small fry, but what’s it like to support tonight’s opponents Manchester United?
Thanks to 'Cozzy' at www.unitedview.co.uk Wolves fans get an insight into the mind of someone who expects to win rather than lose every game they participate in.
Cozzy states that:
As a Man Utd fan, life is pretty good; I'm not going to lie! We're always up there battling for the top spot season after season and the majority of the time we bring that sacred trophy back to Old Trafford. I honestly couldn't imagine what it would be like to support a team that battles against relegation and is happy to get a draw in any game!!
Don't get me wrong though, when you support a team - you support them to the end! I would never change teams no matter how bad things get.
I have supported Man United all my life and at the start of my time as Man U supporter things weren't so rosy, with Liverpool being 'the team' at that time.
Every season sees 'new blood' into the Premiership with the promoted sides being the obvious favourites for the drop at the end of the season. I don't really take much notice about the bottom of the table whatsoever, although if there is one thing that I have learnt throughout my time of being a United supporter - it's never underestimate any team.
Look at Bolton - our 'bogey' team these last few years! I feel the smaller clubs give a hell of a lot more when playing against the likes of United and Arsenal, as if to prove something, when really they should be giving more in the games that they actually have a solid chance of wining - Leeds, Bolton, etc.
When playing any team in the bottom of the table I can say I am usually not 'overly worried' especially if its at Old Trafford (I am extremely confident of our squads ability). Although I often give teams the benefit of the doubt and never underestimate their potential. But hey, what can I say it's great to be battling at the top of the table year after year, there's not much better. But whoever you support its about the love for the club more than anything whether that mean celebrating winning the league, happy just to still be in the there; or even ecstatic about one result in the season, perhaps a surprise win against Arsenal or even United!
==========================
Therefore, it seems that being a football fan we all have the same passions it just that some are realised and some are not. Whether you support the best or the not so best teams in any division we all love the game.
‘Cozzy’ also admits a mutual respect for the opposition which hopefully we’ll see the benefit of at Old Trafford. He doesn’t forecast a surprise result but he’s not alone on that score ;-)
However, the game and the participation are just as important as the winning isn’t it?
