The Prima Donnas Must Go!

Last updated : 28 April 2002 By Steve Hermon
I have just arrived back from the Molineux after watching a disgraceful match, which has showed how much of a joke we have become.

I only had to come back from Wolverhampton, but I feel desperately sorry for all the fans that travelled to Norwich and had to watch that!

After losing second place to West Brom we can't even put up a fight in the play-offs. I don't blame the board or Dave Jones. I think this is all down to the players themselves. Nobody else is to blame in my opinion.

The team is full of over-paid prima donnas who are happy to sit around in the First Division and pick up thousands of pounds a week. Mark Kennedy looks like he can't be bothered, Nathan Blake has been there and done it all before and Paul Butler is not a model captain in my eyes. He shouldn't be in the team, holding back Ludo Pollet, a player who wants to play and give his all for Wolves.

The person I feel sorry for the most is Sir Jack. He has ploughed millions of pounds into this club and I think you could see the depressed look on his face when he was shown on TV today. The majority of players don't look bothered, when they should be fighting for the club, for the fans and for Sir Jack. He deserves it! I wouldn't blame him if he turned around and said he'd had enough at the end of this season.

I hope the players read this site and realise how much the fans care. The fans put in a lot of their hard earned money to watch them week in week out, only for them to play with the fan's emotions and end up losing out on the big time.

We have disgracefully thrown this away. Not even a £1 million bonus package is enough to make them try and play for that last Premiership spot. If that is not enough of a carrot, I don't know what is!

They all have cash signs in their eyes, which has blinded their path for the Premiership. Getting to the big time should be enough of a carrot, but for our players it has to be about money to get there!

They don't realise what the fans have to put up with when they go to work or school. We get mocked and laughed at for our team's 'efforts' to go up and the players don't care.

The players should be fined for the way they have thrown this away. They have not performed to their full ability. If you are in a 9-5 job and don't perform to your full ability, you get sacked, simple as that.

If we can't do it this season we will never will. We are no longer a Sleeping Giant. We are in a coma!

I know many of you optimistic fans may be saying, 'Hang on we can still do this.' Yes we can, but if we do get away with it we will have been very lucky.

I am going back to Lancashire tomorrow, but travelling back down again on Wednesday afternoon for the game. It's an up-hill struggle but hopefully we can do it. Can we keep a clean sheet against Norwich and win 2-0 though. That will still only be enough to take it to penalties though, and I am not looking forward to that prospect!

If we do lose out, the players don't deserve to be clapped off the pitch. We should turn our backs to them and let them walk off in shame, to make them realise what they have thrown away and then we should clear out all the prima donnas and bring in players who care.

Can we get to Cardiff? We'll find out on Wednesday...
