Thanks for nothing Sky Sports!

The good news: The Southampton v Wolves fixture has been selected by Sky Sports

The bad news: 4pm on a Sunday evening!

For many Wolves fans, living locally, it’s a long trip. For fans like me, who live further afield, near Stockport, it’s a nightmare journey just in terms of mileage.

The AA informs me that it’s a 460-mile round trip taking around 4 and a half hours.

Saturday afternoon would give me Sunday to recover. However, with the game finishing around 6pm – I’m looking at a late homecoming before up the next day for work.

For those who can’t get a ticket or can’t get there then they can watch it on the TV. However, as any true football fan knows, there is nothing to beat being there for yourself.

Sure I could save around £80 by watching it in the local pub but if we come away with a draw or better than I’d miss the adrenalin surge that would carry me all the way back up the motorway.

Similar stories with the Sky screening of the Nottingham Forest and Norwich away fixtures.

Forest is now on Friday 11th April – last season it was midweek, so now that I know how to get out of Nottingham I’ll save myself 30 minutes driving around lost ;-)

Norwich is on the Bank Holiday Monday 21st April at 17.35. I think I’ll settle for Sky on that one, as it’s an arduous 4-hour cross-country trip home.

So there are good and bad sides to Live TV. Last season we always seemed to be playing at home on a Sunday in the promotion run-in.

Hopefully, we will be playing a successful part in Sky’s screening of the last domestic fixture of the Division 1 season – the play-off final at the wonderful Millenium Stadium!

Fingers crossed!

Come on the Wolves!
