With the match won by half-time, the Wolves fans decided it was time to start the promotion party in the second half of the Gillingham game.
Goals by Rae and Blake had settled the affair and the second half was fairly subdued football wise. However, the fans decided to take the initiative and crank up the volume to show the team their belief and gratitude.
It started with incessant noise coming out of Jack Harris stand with a full blooded version of 'Barmy Army' that swept into the John Ireland and round to the Stan Cullis.
From there we had several circuits of the mexican-wave which was greeted with great cheers when the normally reserved fans in the Billy Wright stand joined in the high spirits.
'Let's all have a disco' came from the back of the Stan Cullis and the noise being generated was fantastic, a real party peice.
Every player on the team was asked to, 'give us a wave', most players obliged. and this added even more to the atmosphere.
I had actually stopped watching the match and was left observing the near 26,000 fans and their reaction to the long awaited prize that is coming at the end of April.
The belief is there.
I keep reading quotes about how Wolves fans won't believe we are going to be promoted until it's mathematically certain. On Saturday you could see the realisation that the Premiership is coming, in every corner of the ground and more importantly, on the pitch.
When Manchester City roll into town on April the 1st the nearby residents will be complaining to the council about noise pollution because the roof will be lifted off the ground.
Wolves fans may have had many years of hurt but we now know that football is coming home and 'we are going up!'
