Scenario:
Wolves are unbeaten in the last 10 league games whilst Coventry have slumped in the same period just winning two victories one of which, came last weekend at Stoke.
The teams met at Highfield Road just a month ago when Wolves won 2-0 after Coventry had made all the early running.
Subsequently Wolves are 6th in the table whilst Coventry are down in 14th place. However, just six points separate the teams!
Coventry have an identical home and away record so there is no guarantee the three points will be staying with the home side.
What about the opposition?
Gary McAllister is balancing the responsibilities that come with player-manager task very well and was influential in the first fixture until Paul Ince saw to that.
They still have some of the players that were with them in the Premiership with additional loan signings Craig Hignett (on loan from Blackburn) and Dean Holdwsorth (Bolton) filling the first team places.
Goals have been spread around the squad but Jay Bothroyd, who bagged a brace at Stoke, is the leading marksman with 7 league goals.
However, perhaps having already fielded 28 players over the course of the season tells its own tale of injuries that have hindered the good start the Coventry made to the season.
Soon to follow for Wolves:
A couple of away ‘toughies’.
Millwall away, where Claridge last season took great delight in scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot last April.
Burnley, who we have had the ‘Indian sign’ over in recent years having won there 3-2 towards the end of last season.
Score Prediction:
Well it looks like the revitalised Paul Ince will be missing once again from the heart of midfield. In the games that “The Guv’nor” has missed recently Wolves have struggled to get on top in the centre of the park.
Colin Cameron seems likely to replace him, which should help to support the forwards.
Carlton Cole will be looking to build on his goal last week and Wolves to extend their unbeaten run further.
Coventry will be looking for revenge.
If we play as well as we did last weekend against Norwich then we will win.
However, as long as the absence of Ince doesn’t have a major impact then I think we still have enough quality to get the three points. But it will be close.
Come on the Wolves!
