Expect a battle Royal at the Madjeski.

Scenario:

Wolves are in sixth, Reading are 5 points above us in third place.

Considering there are only 11 games left now, Wolves need to pull up the play-off ladder before any of the chasing pack climb above us.

Reading seem to think they can catch Leicester who have not been as convincing in the last few games.

What about the opposition?

Well Reading are carrying on their form from last season’s promotion season.

Surprisingly they’ve adapted well to the division and have made some astute signings to bolster their squad.

They made good use of the loan system to bring in Matthew Upson, now at Birmingham, to shore the defence prior to Christmas. Now they have Luke Chadwick, from Man United on the right wing.

As well they signed Marcus Hahnemann from Fulham and Steve Sidwell from Arsenal, both first team regulars.

They also seem to be getting a lot more from the likes of John Salako in recent months.

At the back they have ex-Wolves flop Aidan Williams.

Up front Jamie Cureton and Nicky Forster have emerged as top scorers.

In midfield they have the promising Andy Hughes, who scored the winner at the Molineux earlier in the season.

All in all as a team they pose tough opposition, especially on their own turf.

Soon to follow for Wolves:

Portsmouth on Saturday, another very tough prospect.

Next Tuesday home to Stoke, who are struggling for points and we all know how generous Wolves are with such teams.

Score Prediction:

Well we once again we will be missing the key man, Ince, in midfield due to suspension.

Rae will
deputise but he doesn’t seem the same since being voted last season’s player of the season.

I also expect Jones to employ his midfield stifling tactics, which could see a rest for Newton and an overdue return for Cooper.

Up front, I doubt that Blake will be risked. Therefore, it might be Proudlock for aerial presence rather than Deano.

I expect us to lose.

There have been signs in the last few games that without Ndah we haven’t got the same attacking threat as he provided.

Reading will be up for this more than we are, and the defeat at Southampton could prove to be the beginning of a slippery slope into mid-table.

However, this is Wolves so you never really know what to expect!

Fingers crossed.

Come on the Wolves!
