Well at least the bookies fancy us to record a victory tomorrow at Selhurst Park being quoted at 5-4 as opposed to the host’s odds of 7-4.
However, can we put this into effect?
Palace haven’t won a league game since the opening day of the season at Preston.
They struggled, like we did, to overcome lower league opposition in the form of Plymouth, in the Worthington Cup this week eventually recording a 2-1 victory after extra time.
They also aren’t scoring goals freely and are at the wrong end of the table. As well they do have an extensive injury list that means they’ve been forced to blood youngsters early in the season.
However, despite being forced, for financial reasons, to sell or release several players during the summer, they still have a useful squad to choose from. Dougie Freedman will be looking to get one over his old club and is always a threat hanging just off the attack.
Wolves, although still not firing on all cylinders will probably just make the one change from the line-up at Swansea, with Jo coming back into the defence for Ludo.
It remains to be seen if the defence can prevent the recent alarming number of goals that have been conceded in the last three games.
Trevor Francis, never a popular man with the Wolves faithful, believes he knows where there is a chink in our armour. Well Trev, you don’t have to be a genius to work that one out – it’s down our left flank!
Last season I was present at Selhurst Park when we won 2-0 but this was during our purple patch. A fantastic first-half strike from Deano set us up for a great victory.
Tomorrow, I expect it to be edgy. Wolves have to hold firm to give the team any chance of getting a result.
However, I think that if we come away with a low scoring draw then we’ll have done well. Anything else is a bonus.
Come on the Wolves.
