An immense response at Old Trafford

I've just got home and I'm still buzzing.

Tonight was a fantastic night to be a Wolves fan. This may seem strange having lost 1-0 to the current champions but we played so well and the fans were so amazing it was almost a dream realised.

Every one of the 11 players who started that match played one of their individually best games in an old gold and black shirt. With better finishing from Henri Camara we would have pulled off a deserved draw never mind stopped an embarrassing defeat.

Sure the first 20 minutes were nerve wracking but that's what happens when you play in front of 67,000 fans.

After that the 4-5-1 formation served to frustrate the hosts and sure they 'rested' key players but we were equal to them.

The introduction of Rae, two games too late in my opinion, gave the central midfield bite. Camara scared the life out of the United defence.

The goal was a disappointing one to concede, similar to the one at Blackburn but the fans rallied and the team kept going regardless.

We had our chances but we didn't take them.

We matched United on the pitch but we murdered them on the terraces.

Absolute total respect to the 3,000 who were there tonight. We lifted the roof off the away end despite the score.

From the first to last minute the Barmy Army was in full chorus. I've criticised Wolves fans in recent times for being too quiet at away games but we were fantastic tonight. I'm sure all of the players and management knew we were 110% behind them when they play in that manner.

If we can play like this every game then we can stay in the Premiership - absolutely no doubt about it. However, we need a repeat performance at home on Saturday against Pompey to get some points on the board. The potential welome addition of two new midfielders will certainly help.

However, tonight the 11 on that pitch did us proud and we must take a lot of heart from that despite what the media and detractors might say.

It was an immense and thoroughly entertaining evening.

Come on you Wolves!
