Doyle was released from international duty by the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday with Giovanni Trapattoni claiming he may struggle to be fit for the resumption of the Euro 2012 qualification campaign next month.
Doyle was ruled out for nearly two months in March with a knee ligament problem suffered playing for his country against Macedonia.
The 27-year-old returned for the penultimate game last season but suffered a reaction to the injury and missed Wolves' finale against Blackburn as well as Ireland's trio of summer matches.
Steven Fletcher and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake will be in contention to replace Doyle at Blackburn this weekend should he be out of action.
