The Wolves defender was dismissed for what Wolves thought was a professional foul on Norwich winger Darren Huckerby, which carries an automatic one game ban.
However, the referee's report states that he was dismissed for serious foul play, which carries a three game ban.
"This came as a complete surprise to us," Club secretary Richard Skirrow told the clubs official website.
"The offence was, in our opinion, a clear case of a professional foul, which denied the Norwich striker a goalscoring opportunity. That would carry just a one match ban.
"We are lodging an appeal."
