Munro was capped nine times by Scotland, but it is at Molineux where he will be most fondly remembered for the 371 appearances he made for the club between 1968 and 1977.
The centre-back, who also played for Dundee United, Aberdeen and Celtic, died on Tuesday, two days after suffering a heart attack.
Former team-mates Dave Wagstaffe and Phil Parkes were at his bedside in New Cross Hospital, and Wagstaffe told Wolves' official website: "Frank was the most skilful centre-half in the country and yet he never realised it. He played the game for fun.
"He was a great team-mate and a great friend and we are all going to miss him tremendously."
Dundee-born Munro was signed for ?55,000 by then Wolves manager Ronnie Allen and was a member of the team that reached the UEFA Cup final in 1972 and won the League Cup two years later.
A statement on the Wolves website said: "To Frank's family and friends, the club offers its sincere condolences."
