Thomson made a total of 300 appearances for Wolves with only one of those being as sub which show how invaluble he was to the club in the 10 years he was at Molineux. After that 10 years of loyal service he moved to Birmingham City
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said Bobby was a hugely popular player here - one of the Club's finest full-backs in our long and rich history - and he will be sadly missed. He was also a real gentleman and was someone for whom I know the whole Wolves family had huge respect."
As someone who grew up in Sedgley (Sandyfields Road) I made numerous trips to Bobby's sports shop on Sedgley HIgh Street. From memory he was always a very pleasant and helpful man
He will be missed by all Wolves fans but especially those in middle age
RIP Bobby
