Griffiths is poised to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with Wolves.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has been impressed with Griffiths during a trial period at Molineux but he has already stressed he views Griffiths as a player for the future. The 20-year-old will become Wolves' second signing of the week after Barnsley's Adam Hammill made the £500,000 switch.
Griffiths had previously had a trial with Wolves` local rivals West Brom during Tony Mowbray's reign as manager. He has netted 10 times this season out of a total of 29 in 56 appearances for Dundee.
McCarthy said: "Look, with the greatest respect to Leigh, I don't want anyone thinking we are signing a Premier League striker that is going to come in and rip it up at the moment because that is not the case. What we shouldn't take our eye off, is what we have always done, and that is sign players who we think might be valuable to us and be a bargain.
"We've done it in the past, the Wards, Foleys, Edwards, Kightlys, you can name lots and lots of them we have done shrewd deals for and they have been good and smart deals. Of course it's a big step up for Leigh but he's got a terrific goalscoring record."
