Wolves winger Matt Jarvis believes he can make an impression for England after being named in the squad to face Wales on Saturday and Ghana next week.Jarvis is confident he can transfer his excellent domestic form into the international arena after Fabio Capello named him in his 26-man squad.
"It's great for me and I'm delighted but having been named in the squad I'm aiming to impress," said Jarvis, 24.
"I am sure it will be a benefit to me to be alongside such top players."
Jarvis has been rewarded by Capello for his consistent good form for Wolves and, with Theo Walcott injured and Adam Johnson left out after his recent return to action, he will be competing with Aaron Lennon and Ashley Young for a starting place in midfield.
"I've just got to concentrate on doing as well as I can in training and seeing if I can impress to get some time on the pitch," Jarvis told the Wolves website.
"Whatever happens with the matches I'm sure it will be a great experience to be training with the squad and with a coach like Fabio Capello."
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has predicted Jarvis, the first player from Molineux to be called up to the squad since Steve Bull, will be "a breath of fresh air" in the England squad.
Jarvis maintained his impressive form for Wolves with the winner at Aston Villa on Saturday and McCarthy believes it is just reward for the hard work the player has put in.
"He is tops, he is a great lad, straightforward, very honest and puts in a real day's work," said McCarthy.
"To be called up shows how much he has improved. He is a threat, whoever he plays against. He scored the winner on Saturday and he has improved his all-round finishing. I think he will be a breath of fresh air.
"I think it's recognition for the work he has done and how hard he works. I am thrilled for him.
"It's better than nice for the player, and for the rest of the squad it shows you can get recognition from lower down the leagues by progressing through with a team like Wolves.
"It doesn't just have to be players from top teams getting in."
