It seems that football is running scared of the PC brigrade and the compensation culture that is gripping Britain (another unwanted American). Less than 10 years ago games were only called off if the pitch is unplayable. Now it seems if there is a little bit of ice with 500 metres of a football ground it's called off
IN the case of the Wolves postponement it was justified as thet forecast if for at least 4-5 inches of snow down in the East End of London. But games like Liverpool-Spurs was called off on Thursday for a sunday kick off ????
The scouse fans are not happy if you read some of the messageboards
Wolves gaffer said of the postponement on the official site "We're obviously disappointed because we'd prepared for the game and we wanted to play, But at the same time of course we fully understand the decision given the weather conditions we've had this week. And I think there's another four inches of snow forecast down there for tonight which would have made things even worse.
"So common sense prevailed and the game was called off. In a way it's always better to get a decision early. We hadn't left yet but we're o-k travelling down on a nice coach - it's the fans you have to think about. "They are the ones who make the trip and spend money on travelling down to London and at least they don't get so far down there and then the game is called off."
