The Republic Of Ireland striker has fitted effectively into the lone striking role after Wolves boss Mick McCarthy opted to switch from a 4-4-2 formation last month.
Ward said: "I think Kevin has been brilliant all season - but especially during the last few weeks when he has played the role on his own upfront. I'm a bit biased but I don't see many playing it better than him. He leads the line so well and he is so strong and willing.
"He is a player that will be vital in the run-in because of the way he is playing. He is causing top-class defences problems and has been different class."
Ward added: "There is no limit to where Kevin can go. I wouldn't be surprised if clubs at the top end of the Premier League are keeping an eye on him because his performances have been superb of late."
