Run Came A Little Late - Hoddle

An unbeaten run run of 18 games to end the season consisted of too many draws to gain Wolves a play-off place but Hoddle, who is expected to sign a new contract this week, is convinced that the foundations are firmly set for a promotion push next season.

"I hope the new contract will be sorted out by the end of next week, it won't drag on," he said after the 4-2 home win against Sheffield United in the final game of the season at The Molineux on Sunday.

"The run is the product of good work over the last few months, but it came a little too late.

"We probably drew too many games in that run, but the foundations are there for next season."
