The Wolves boss had tried to sign the former Falkirk forward during the January transfer window only for the deal to fall through when Gow failed a medical.

"It isn't something we will look at again," McCarthy told The Sunday Mercury.

"Trying to get out of the Championship is one thing, and trying to stay in the Premiership is another thing.

"We have to look for some Premiership players."
