Manager Mick McCarthy was full of praise for his players but singled out the performance of Kevin Doyle for special Praise
Speaking on the official site he said "It was a terrific performance by all my players tonight, Maybe some stand out more than others and I'm not sure there can have been many better centre forward performances at Molineux than Doyler's. I know Wolves fans will say there have been but when you consider he was playing up front on his own against one of the top sides like Liverpool I'd like to see it.
"You can bring me all the tapes, get them from Cathay Pacific all the way back and eight tracks and cassettes, VHS - whatever you want - of everyone who's played here. And if there's anyone who's played better than that I'd like to see it. He is an inspiration, he worked tirelessly, got it to stick up there for us and caused them problems. He didn't get a goal but that would have made the all-round complete performance. He's physically capable of playing that role and did very well - it was an absolute classic performance and he ran their back two ragged."
