I now realise why you can not judge anything by a pre season friendly. We changed the formation 4 times used a squad of 18 players saw a trialist. And somewhere within all that, we tried to play a game of football. There were no real tackles, everybody stayed on there feet. Basically completly lacking in any passion.
To be fair, you can not make any decisions on our quality as a team. However you can pick out individuals and make a jusdgement. And to be honest I was quite impressed with some individuals. In particular,
Milijas. He really does look the real deal. His distribution and set pieces are nothing short of amazing.
Zubar got a standing ovation. Very good player. Won everything in the air, and tackled like Kevin Muscat. I amreally hopeful for this guy.
Halford was solid whilst he was on, but played in several positions so was difficult to pick him up to make a real judgement. Steven Ward, came on left wing in place of Thomas. He playedreally well,at left back and up front, but failed in the left wing position.
Edwards, was great alongside Milijas. I have real hopes for him this season.
SEB. Is just class.
Keogh came on and created a lot of openings for himself and others, but we lacked any type of finishing.
On the downside. Stearman had a stinker of a game, he let them score, but several times gave the ball away from simple positions. Jerome Thomas. I was really looking forward to seeing this guy. But he missed a sitter in the opening minutes and never really recovered. Kept running into defenders and then pulled up with a hamstring. I am sure he has had better trials.
Elliott Bennett, did not do a great deal however he did work hard, and is one for the future.
Everyone else was distinctly average and not really "putting in a shift".
