McCarthy has recruited midfielder Jamie O'Hara, defender Roger Johnson and goalkeeper Dorus De Vries in the transfer window.
At Portman Road, the Wolves chief saw his charges concede a goal to Lee Bowyer before hitting back through Stephen Hunt's deflected strike and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's penalty.
Wolves will kick off their campaign at Blackburn on August 13 and McCarthy is a contented man.
"The club is going forward," McCarthy told the Sunday Mercury.
"We've spent money, we've got a new stand on the way, there's development on the ground, the training ground is going forward and it's our third season in the Premier League.
"I've got fantastic support from Steve Morgan - the chairman - and the chief executive.
"At the moment, I'm happy with the squad I've got."
