Wolves went down 2-1 at Blackpool, their ninth loss in 11 games, to remain entrenched in the bottom three of the Barclays Premier League.
The result was harsh on the midlanders, who responded to a 2-0 half-time deficit by creating numerous chances after the break.
They hit the post through Nenad Milijas and Kevin Doyle pulled one back late on but Blackpool, who led through Luke Varney and Marlon Harewood, held on for only their second win of the season at Bloomfield Road.
McCarthy said: "All us managers know, whichever league you are in, in football games you need results. It doesn't matter if you play good, bad or indifferent if you get results.
"If you are not getting results the pressure mounts but I don't sit and worry about that. I worry about not getting points."
