"We competed well and played well at times but we gave away two poor goals.
"It was an entertaining game but I am not sure that it is good for the old ticker!"
McCarthy questioned whether Plymouth's second goal had crossed the line, added: "I'm really pleased that we have got a linesman with 20-20 vision.
"I have looked at it on the TV and I can't see if it was over. If he was right then fair enough."
McCarthy also called on the Wolves fans to get right behind the team after they spent some of the game calling for the head of chief executive Jez Moxey.
"Whatever they think of Jez, support the team. We had a whole section shouting about Jez. It would make it a lot easier if they were chanting super Wolves."
