Kightly has been sidelined for 16 months with ankle and then knee problems.
But the former England Under-21 international has now returned to full training and is pencilled in to face the Red Devils.
Now Mick McCarthy is hoping Kightly will prove his fitness so he can play some part in Wanderers` bid for Barclays Premier League survival.
The Wolves boss said: "He's fit running-wise, but it depends on how he comes back as to how soon he'll be back playing competitively because there's a big difference.
"But it would be fantastic for him to play a part in the run-in and great for him too. He's a good character too, he's chirpy around the place and it would be great to have him back."
