Kightly was back in the squad on a match day for the first time in 16 months after ankle and knee problems.
But the winger did not get to play a part as England newcomer Matt Jarvis' stunning strike earned victory for Mick McCarthy's side.
Kightly said: "If we play like that for the next eight games, then I'll take sitting on the bench and not coming on.
"It's been a long time and it's been great to be back out there involved with the boys. I was buzzing that we won on Saturday.
"But it's not about Michael Kightly getting 15-20 minutes. It's about Wolves getting three points and creeping up that table."
