Gray, who is in temporary charge of first team affairs at Molineux, also confirmed that he has not applied for the vacant managers post.

"I said I'd settle for a 1-0 win because I think it was just a case of getting three points on the board," he said after the game.

"But all credit to the players because it was a fantastic performance. We just couldn't get the third goal to kill them off.

"My brief was to take temporary charge and I've not applied for the job. They know where I am, they've got my CV on record."
