Henry was given a straight red card on Saturday after 10 minutes for a dangerous tackle on Wigan midfielder Jordi Gomez.
Wolves have come in for criticism in some quarters for their physical approach, but Doyle insists Henry is not a dirty player.
"Karl is a very clean and fair player. He apologised to all the lads at the end of the game," said Doyle.
"He is not a dirty player although we could not argue with the red card.
"The only thing I hope it doesn't do is influence referees in situations where they think Wolves put in a few dirty tackles.
"Over the course of the season we will show that we are not (a dirty side). If you look at it last year, we were one of the fairest sides in the league and I'm sure we will be again this season."
Midfielder David Jones added in the Express and Star: "I hope it doesn't change how he plays, because we want him to make challenges.
"This is the first incident he's been penalised for.
"As anyone who's seen him knows, he's a totally fair, honest player.
"You could see it coming (the Gomez tackle) - it probably looked worse because if you miss the ball, you get the player. He'll never shy out of a tackle, but that's because he always faces up to physical battles."
David Edwards feels Henry's challenge on Gomez was a direct result of the coverage he has been getting in the media.
He said: "It was a bad tackle and I think Karl knows that.
"It's not in his nature not to go for it, because he's a good tackler and a good, honest footballer. But he's had a lot of bad press which is uncalled for.
"So maybe there was a slight hesitation where he thought he shouldn't go for it because of the attention he's had."
