Are You Ready?
The last day of the season is just two days away. The big game at Hillsborough. I'm not nervous yet, but when I step onto the train going to Sheffield I will be feeling something I have never felt before.
In my time as a football fan, Wolves have never been in a situation like this before, let's face it - we shouldn't be in a position like this! But that can't be changed now.
The stripy lot down the road have the advantage over us, as they are playing at home, with a one point lead and are in great form, but I am trying to stay confident - not too confident, because I will be more gutted come full time on Sunday is we do fail.
We are all praying that former Wolves strikers Dougie Freedman and Ade Akinbiyi can do us a favour. It is a vision I shared in my last article, that Akinbiyi would pop up at the back post and head in the last minute winner at The Hawthorns. But at the Wimbledon game I was very surprised to see that many other Wolves fans seemed to have the same thought. Maybe It will happen, Is It destiny?
Ok, Wake Up Steve, enough dreaming for one day.
Let's face it. It's a tough task and we have to rely on Albion slipping up. This is the type of game where you cannot say 'It was an OK game.' It's either the best day of your life or the worst day of your life!
I have a friend who is a Bolton fan (BOOOO!) and with his side having all the play-off experience he keeps saying to me: 'Cardiff is the best way to go up!' I say sod that! Who wants to go to Wales anyway?
Yes, at the start of the season I would have accepted third place, but not if I knew we'd be in second place for half the season and blow it to our rivals with two games to go!
Every Wolves fan will have their eyes on the game and an ear to a hand-held radio on Sunday, checking on Albion's score. It will be an emotional game and I think nobody can really predict what will happen.
Let's just wait and see....
